The fifth generation of mobile networks promises to be "the everything network, available everywhere for everyone", providing high data rate from reliable networks with low power usage.

Massive MIMO and Beamforming are key enabling technologies for 5G Radio Access Network.  And unlocking their power depends on building in the right technology to the base station, so it's equipped to maximise data throughput and cell capacity.

We're perfectly placed to do this as we have the right mix of know-how, hands-on skills and ability to look at the challenge differently.  We've also developed a lot of successful solutions in the past.

Right now, our engineers are working on a sophisticated Architectural system model that identifies key performance dependencies across the whole signal processing chain.  This makes our design flow and technical decision-making far more efficient as we can more easily specify the right sub-systems and components.  And that in turn makes our architecture capable of optimally addressing the split in Analogue and Digital beamforming solutions.  So our customers get the solution that best meets their financial, performance and deployment needs.

Our engineers also have an established track-record in designing Phased Array Antennas and Electronic Beam-steering solutions.  They're currently focussing their attention on 5G base stations, identifying the next-generation solutions for hybrid beamforming algorithms and transceivers together with analogue phase shifters and power amplifiers.

At the same time, we've got an eye on fascinating new technical areas like the integration of satellite communications in 5G, something which opens the door to intelligent transport, industrial and manufacturing automation and the IoT.
